new york city

We spent a week in NYC. This was Mason's second time. We had so much fun but we're glad we don't live in the City anymore. We ate amazing food and went to our favorite comedy club. I ate eel that was shipped in live from Japan overnight. We saw a film at the Tribeca Film Festival and then had brunch at 11 PM. It was a strange feeling to be walking down the street not carrying anything but a slice of pizza. No baby, no pram. I could bolt across the street at will, and go into crowded cafes. I used to run around that city wild and free, and I'm glad I did while I could.

oxford, england

In an attempt to start crossing off trips on our "Places to Visit" list, we took a day trip to Oxford. It was quaint, and somewhat sophisticated, as you might expect.

Having only seen thatched roofs in movies, my instincts told me it will probably be burning from torch arrows and the village will be pillaged any minute. Not a good feeling.

I hate that black jacket. Partly because it was the jacket I wore for my entire pregnancy. Partly because it makes me look like a beetle with an abnormally large thorax. After this trip I vowed to never wear it again and I proudly haven't.

The Oxfordians carry on with their business alongside the creepiest graveyard ever, casually placed across the street from Borders and Subway.

Mason and I tried to pose for a picture, but he wiggled free.

Then climbed to the top, squealing with delight.

Oxford sophisticates appalled by our lack of germ and parenting education.

What did you say to me?

This couple is lost. I think it was Scotland they were looking for.

Right after this photo was taken Simon put some cookie in my mouth and told me to guess the flavor. That's the kind of day it was.
